About Us
The Name "Scoodic"
Many years ago, the Malisset Indians used to come and fish salmon in the St. Croix River.
They would set up a temporary camp beside the River and build smoke houses to smoke the salmon.
The word "SCOODIC" is an Indian word meaning "FIRE AND WARMTH".
The Town of St. Stephen was started on the site of the Indian Camp.
The older people in the communitiy, most of them gone now, used to call St. Stephen, "SCOODIC".
The modest rooms are equipped with cable TV and WiFi, as well as microwaves and minifridges.
Rooms suites with living space and free-standing chalets are also available.
Morning coffee & tea are complimentary.
There is also a kid's playground.
